The City of Brooksville on April 7 approved a Department of Public Works request to purchase 250 Neptune water meters, antennas, meter boxes and related hardware from Ferguson Water Works for a total of $78,230.50.
Public Works Director Richard Weeks told council the meters are needed to support Leland Preserve, a new 34‑home subdivision off Wiscon Road, and to ensure the city has inventory for installations during construction and for future maintenance. Staff said Ferguson is the sole Florida distributor for the Neptune system used by the city.
Staff also told council that a manufacturer surcharge of 8% will take effect April 2 because of federal tariffs; purchasing before the surcharge protects the city from an anticipated price increase. Council voted to approve the purchase and confirmed funds are budgeted for the procurement.
The purchase was approved by voice vote, 5–0.
