Seward County schedules emergency-response training for elected officials and local leaders

Greg Standard of Seward County Emergency Management told the Board of Commissioners on April 7 that the county will host training for elected officials and local leaders at the Event Center in May, beginning at 9 a.m. The course is scheduled to run about four hours.
Standard said the training is intended to explain how emergency responses are organized and to clarify the role elected officials and local leaders play during a response. He encouraged commissioners to attend and said local jurisdictions — including city commissions, hospital management and school leadership — are being invited.
Registration is on KS-Train, Standard said, and attendees will need a student ID number from the National Fire Academy (part of FEMA) to register. He said attendees do not need to bring a laptop.
Commissioners asked about the schedule and duration; Standard confirmed the training typically runs four hours and will allow time for interaction with trainers. No county action was required; this was an informational announcement.
