County staff brought forward a request from Alleghany Hills (the hospital) to waive transfer facility tipping fees for brush removed by a contractor from trees above the hospital landing pad.
County staff said the request was verbal and estimated the amount of brush at roughly 10 town truckloads, with a typical town load being about one ton. "Usually, on a town load with a swiped pan brush, you're gonna get about a ton per load. So a ton per load, if it's a ton, it's gonna be $600. So I would estimate that's gonna be between 600 and a thousand dollars would be the amount that we would waive for the hospital," the staff speaker said.
Several commissioners questioned whether the county should subsidize what one called the hospital's tree removal and noted the county had previously supported the hospital in other ways. Commissioners asked for additional information about grinding costs, total expense, and whether the hospital faced financial hardship.
After discussion the board voted to table the request for two weeks so staff could gather additional details.
