Clerk seeks CIP amendment after painters' invoice raises project cost by about $1,000

A representative for the Geary County clerk's office told commissioners that a previously submitted Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) request for a clerk's office furniture update needs amendment after final invoices arrived higher than anticipated. The presenter said she had worked with Public Works on an original estimate of $7,325.89 and later received a painting invoice that increased the cost; she reported the new amendment request would total $8,348.52.

The clerk's representative said the original CIP combined furniture, cubicle removal, hole-filling and painting into a single project total, and that the meeting packet did not include a detailed cost breakdown. Commissioners and staff asked for an itemized breakdown showing how much was allocated to furniture versus painting and for vendor details. The presenter said Frank had provided an earlier painting estimate around $1,000, while the invoice was $1,875.
