Tempe Elementary board confirms two principal hires; district recognizes awards and a $1,000 donation

The Tempe Elementary School District governing board on April 2 approved two personnel actions and heard several recognitions.
District leadership announced the appointment of Rebecca Copeland as principal of Aspire at Arredondo and Anna Cole as principal of Moseley Middle School. Thompson (district staff) summarized Copeland's and Cole's backgrounds: Copeland holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northern Arizona University and a master's in educational leadership from Grand Canyon University and has roughly 20 years in public education, including positions at Chandler Unified School District. Cole holds a bachelor's in elementary education from Hope College and a master's in educational leadership from Indiana University–Fort Wayne and has served as a teacher, dean, assistant principal and principal in prior roles.
Both new principals addressed the board. Copeland said she was "committed to continuing to promote an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential." Cole, joining by phone, said she was excited "to build on the great systems and supports already in place at Moseley Middle School."
The board also acknowledged community partnerships and programs: second graders participated in Women in Construction Week activities; 70 boys attended a leadership camp funded by Fiesta Bowl Charities and hosted by the MVP Foundation; and district staff reminded the community of the district's 150th celebration on April 5. The board recognized the recent passing of two former district leaders, Geneva Epps Mosley and Joseph P. S., and thanked donor Eric Whitehorn for a $1,000 contribution to Tempe Elementary Schools.
