The Tempe Elementary School District governing board on April 2 approved a data‑sharing agreement that would allow the Boys & Girls Club of the Valley to receive student information if the club is awarded a 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant.
Dr. Driscoll told the board the agreement would only be implemented if the Boys & Girls Club receives the state grant; otherwise the district would not share records. The district said the proposed program would provide free after‑school services for students at Chamblee and Frank elementaries if the grant is awarded.
Board members asked what student fields the nonprofit would receive. District staff listed typical fields required by the grant application and state reporting: student name, date of birth, gender, grade and school; academic information (grades and standardized assessment results); daily attendance, tardiness and absences; discipline actions and suspension referrals; program participation metrics such as hours of participation and completion status.
"It's pretty standard in most of our stuff that we deal with the state," Dr. Driscoll said, noting the district already reports many of the same data elements to the state for grant compliance.
The motion to approve the data‑sharing agreement passed on a voice vote. The board chair announced "motion passes." The agreement is contingent on the Boys & Girls Club successfully securing the state grant.
