Commissioners approve community corrections and drug court grant applications totaling roughly $3.4 million

Fisher said the primary community corrections grant request was $3,314,052 for the coming year to cover day reporting and house-arrest programs and to meet salary-and-benefit increases. She said a separate drug court grant application requested $111,297. Fisher also noted the Indiana Office of Court Services seeks a separate application this year; that third application did not require the county signature at this meeting but the department is applying.
A commissioner made a motion to approve and sign the two required grant applications; another commissioner seconded. The board voted in favor and authorized the chair to sign the applications so they can be submitted for the January–December funding period.
Why it matters: The grants are the primary funding sources for community corrections programs in the county; approval allows the department to continue services without county-funded operating expenditures for the programs identified.
