Greene County proclaims Child Abuse Prevention Month, sets Lineworker Appreciation Day for April 18

The Greene County Board of Commissioners received a proclamation recognizing child abuse prevention and later approved a proclamation declaring April 18, 2025, as Lineworker Appreciation Day in Greene County.

A staff member read a proclamation noting that childhood trauma, including abuse and neglect, is a serious public-health problem and that preventing child maltreatment requires coordinated action across schools, health care, law enforcement and community organizations. The staff member announced community events tied to Child Abuse Prevention Month: a Saturday event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Greene County Wellness Center and an April 30 observance at the Health and Human Services building where the department of social services and health department are located. The presenter also recognized local child-welfare social workers in attendance.

The board later considered and approved a separate resolution recognizing April 18, 2025, as Lineworker Appreciation Day in Greene County.
