Rules Committee forwards bill to create sustainable foraging task force to Environment panel

Senator Pa said the task force would include experts, community stakeholders and Department of Natural Resources staff and that the objective is to support access to public lands and foraging practices Minnesotans have exercised for generations. The sponsor indicated two previous supporters declined to testify at this hearing in the interest of time and recognized DNR assistant commissioner Bob Meyer and John Waters as contributors who worked on the bill.
No committee members raised substantive objections. Senator Pappas moved the bill, and the committee adopted Senate File 1464 and re‑referred it to the Committee on Environment, Climate and Legacy.
