The Board of County Commissioners approved six items on the consent agenda, with one item (a property sale) recorded as having one commissioner abstain.
Administrator Bennett presented the consent agenda. The six items were: - Appointment of Mayor Todd Logsdon to the Tri County Council to fill Frostburg’s seat; - Renewal of medical services at the Allegany County Detention Center with Wellpath LLC for one year beginning July 1, 2025, in the amount of $1,571,931 (an 8.8% increase from last year); - Community event promotion support of $1,000 for the 25th annual Old Town Summerfest on June 28, 2025; - Contract for sale of property at 1 Science Drive in Frostburg (the former Hamilton Relay facility) to BTA of Frostburg LLC for $1,200,000 (item D was broken out and recorded with one abstention); - Employee benefits contract renewal for VBA vision benefits for fiscal years 2026 and 2027 with no increase in cost (100% paid by county employees); - Acceptance of a GOCCP case automation system enhancement grant in the amount of $55,539 to allow the state’s attorney’s office to obtain new case-management software.
A commissioner asked to pull item D (the sale of 1 Science Drive) for separate consideration because that commissioner needed to abstain; the board then voted on the remaining items and later approved item D with one abstention recorded. The minutes show voice approval for the consent agenda items with the single abstention noted for the property sale.
Commissioners did not record roll-call tallies in the public remarks beyond the recorded “Aye” votes and the single abstention. The board ended the consent agenda with no public comment registered for the meeting.
The commission also noted upcoming local events and continued work on budget hearings and local water-service issues during closing remarks.
