HRDC highlights service volume and asks commissioners for flat funding

The Human Resources Development Commission (HRDC) reported services to thousands of residents, including Head Start, housing assistance, meals and tax preparation, and asked the county for flat funding for FY26 to continue programs and pursue larger grants.
HRDC (Human Resources Development Commission) representatives thanked commissioners for past support and asked for flat funding for FY26 while outlining service volumes and program expansions.
HRDC said it served large numbers across multiple programs in FY24–25: roughly 311 children and 277 families received Head Start or early Head Start services; 58 homeless families obtained housing through rapid rehousing or prevention programs; nearly 79,000 meals were provided to seniors; nearly 20,000 meals were provided to children through after‑school and summer programs; and about 3,200 households received rental assistance through the Housing Choice Voucher program.
HRDC said it also provided free tax preparation to more than 2,700 families, generating about $1.62 million in federal and state refunds and nearly $500,000 in earned income tax credits and child tax credits. The agency said it is fiscal sponsor for the Enough Act and is expanding transportation services, including mobility management and new routes to medical centers.
HRDC told commissioners it is not requesting an increase and requested flat funding so it can continue 32 programs and pursue larger federal grants, including potential track 3 funding up to $5 million as a fiscal sponsor in a regional collaboration.
