Board accepts Longview Road state-aid project and authorizes resurfacing bids for multiple county roads

The Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors formally accepted the State Aid Project SAP 5380 (Longview Road), approving release of remaining retainage to the contractor after staff confirmed that identified deficiencies had been corrected.
County road staff reviewed the history of the project and said the outstanding punch-list items and drainage issues had been addressed by the general contractor and subs; supervisors voted to accept the project as complete, a step county staff said was required before final payments could be made.
Separately, supervisors authorized advertising for bids on an extended list of county roads (including Rafael Road East/West, Rice Road, Bethesda Road, Jordan Lane, Clifford Lane and others) to use bond funds and other road funding sources, and they awarded a resurfacing bid for Lock Top Road bridge approach to Mississippi Paving after receiving two quotes.
Road staff said the resurfacing scope included removal of failed material, base replacement and a two-inch asphalt overlay; supervisors asked staff to monitor specification compliance and to expedite work as weather permits.
Motions to accept Longview Road and to advertise and award road work passed unanimously during the meeting.
