Staff said that while Sodexo’s per‑meal price was not the lowest, the district prioritized local sourcing and program quality in the RFP evaluation.
Staff described an RFP process that included vendor interviews, reference checks and outreach to local Farm to School representatives. One board member noted Sodexo representatives discussed existing Farm to School contracts and local beef sourcing in other districts. Administrators said the recommended agreement will be a one‑year contract with options to extend for up to five years; specific contract terms and final pricing remain subject to negotiation before return for board approval.
Board members asked about the procurement timeline and confirmed the district will finalize contract language before the April 17 action item. Several board members praised the emphasis on local sourcing and on holding vendors to operational performance standards; board members also thanked staff for running an extensive RFP process.
No formal action was taken at the April 3 meeting; staff will return with the negotiated contract and an action request at the April 17 board meeting.
