VTA outlines $198 million plan to add San Antonio southbound ramp, bike-and-ped facilities on US 101

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) told the Mountain View Council Transportation Committee that the US 101 San Antonio and Ringstorff interchange improvements are in the environmental phase and would add a new southbound on‑ramp at San Antonio, remove the Charleston on‑ramp at Ringstorff, add a southbound auxiliary lane and new bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

The project “is about $198,000,000,” VTA senior transportation engineer Shanti Chitraddi said during the committee’s April update, and VTA has funding only for the project initiation and environmental phases so far. “For the environmental phase, we have received a total including match of about $8,000,000,” Chitraddi said; she said the PID and environmental phase together total roughly $10 million and that the local match for early work included funds from Google and Measure B. VTA staff said design and construction phases do not yet have secured funding.
