Sedgwick County agenda review lists KDOT bridge funding, engineering contract, Comcare hires and respite vendor agreements for consent

During agenda review, county staff outlined several items recommended for the consent agenda, including a Kansas Department of Transportation funding agreement to replace a bridge, engineering services, property easement actions, Comcare hiring and multiple vendor contracts.

Staff said KDOT will provide $1,800,000 for a bridge replacement and Sedgwick County's share on that bridge project is $408,000. Staff also described an $87,000 engineering services agreement and a request to vacate a drainage easement that public works and the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission had approved. The staff summary included two Comcare employment contracts for advanced registered nurse practitioners; staff noted one of the hires, Will Barnes, had served as the county's director of nursing and recently completed a master's program and is now licensed.

The county described a new respite program for people experiencing Alzheimer's and dementia and identified seven vendors for vendor contracts to deliver those services.
