District updates on softball/baseball fields and approves May Roberts kitchen contract

Facilities manager Bob Bennett told the board the district has been leading construction on two North fields (JV/practice) and working with community volunteers and the Friends of Softball group on fundraising and finishing work.
Bennett reported completed items on the softball field: concrete work under fencing and backstops, dugout pads, removal of foul sod and installation of foul-line fencing. He said two backstop components remained to be fully installed and estimated those pieces were about 95% in place. Dugouts were roughly 75% complete; scoreboard purchase and outfield fence remained to be finalized.
On the baseball field Bennett said soil work and leveling were nearly complete, city water was relocated and new sprinkler zones installed; sod and play dirt (the orange-dyed infield material) remain to be placed. He said the varsity softball field work was on hold pending additional fundraising.
The concessions building has had electrical and plumbing inspections passed; counters were installed and the district is awaiting the service-window counter and donor-wall work. Bennett told the board the district has tracked district labor and in-kind materials at about $69,000 while the district oversaw construction of the two North fields.
Separately, the board approved a contract for the May Roberts Primary School kitchen remodel. Pam (staff) told the board the district received five bids and selected Alpine Construction Management of Boise; the winning bid was $382,060 and the engineer recommended a 10% contingency for unforeseen plumbing or electrical work. Pam said the district expects to begin work as soon as school ends with the goal of completion before the next school year.
Bennett named planned subcontractors under the Alpine general contract: Stands Heating and Cooling (HVAC), Intermountain Plumbing (plumbing) and Hot To Electric (electrical). The board approved the contract by voice vote.
