Los Angeles council backs expanded domestic-partnership protections in state bill

"This expands the rights of all folks regardless of orientation or age and gives protections families have expected," Garcetti said during remarks to the chamber. The council voted 11-0 to approve the resolution and asked that it be transmitted promptly to the mayor and state leaders.
