The Paradise Valley Unified School District Governing Board voted unanimously Thursday to approve a contract of employment for superintendent‑elect Todd Cummings, effective July 1, 2025.
Board President Mrs. Greenberg moved the item to the floor and the board approved the contract after several members made brief remarks welcoming Cummings and thanking the community and the search team for their input.
The vote follows a search process described by board members as “rigorous” and “multifaceted.” Board members and district leaders said the district received community feedback through surveys, videos, a community forum and interviews. Dr. Reynolds, the current superintendent, and board members praised the finalists and the community engagement that informed the decision. Several board members and staff singled out Cummings’s prior professional connections to Paradise Valley leaders as part of the record of his familiarity with district practices.
Todd Cummings addressed the board after the vote, thanking the governing board, the district leadership team and the community. He said he looked forward to “listening, engaging, collaborating, and building relationships” as superintendent and expressed gratitude to district leaders who previously supported the search.
The item approved was a contract of employment for Dr. Todd Cummings with an effective date of July 1, 2025. The board did not discuss specific contract terms in the public portion of the meeting beyond the effective date and the formal approval motion. Board members emphasized they had read all community comments submitted during the search process.
What happens next: Cummings will begin transition activities with district leadership ahead of the July 1 start date, and the board noted there will be additional transition work in the coming months.
