Separately, a separate agenda item for asphalt paving services (three-month haul/pickup bids) produced three responses from Brent Bell Construction, McKenzie Asphalt and Ellsworth Construction; commissioners asked staff to prepare a spreadsheet comparing the bids because one bid contained a line that needed clarification. The board voted to table the paving-services award for one week to allow staff time to provide the spreadsheet and clarification.
Votes: commissioners approved the three-month material awards as presented. For the paving-services item the board voted to table the decision for one week; commissioners recorded aye votes on the motion to table.
Staff noted fuel-surcharge provisions in vendor bids tied to per-gallon fuel price triggers and discussed plant selection by distance to project sites. Several product lines had identical low bids; in those cases staff recommended the closest plant to the project area. The awards will allow county road projects to proceed with vendors selected by district and product type.
