Rota delegation adopts four local resolutions, backs HR 2132 advocacy

Representative Julie Obo introduced four resolutions: RLD Resolution 24-02 to honor the career of Paul Atelimondonia on his retirement; RLD Resolution 24-03 to commend the 2025 Dr. Rita H. Enos High School mock trial team for its achievements; RLD Resolution 24-04 supporting HR 2132 (introduced by U.S. Delegate Kimberly King Hines) and urging efforts to attract new airlines to increase competition and reduce travel costs; and RLD Resolution 24-05 honoring Adolfo Songo Cabo for contributions to literacy and education as Rota’s first librarian.
Floor leader moved to place resolutions 24-02 through 24-05 on the resolution calendar; the motion was seconded and approved. The delegation then moved to adopt each resolution on the record. The clerk recorded four affirmative votes on each resolution and announced adoption.
Senator Mendiola suggested that the retirement resolution (24-02) could be accompanied by a joint house resolution to further commemorate Paul Atelimondonia’s public service. On the aviation item, a member explained that HR 2132 seeks an exemption from Essential Air Service (EAS) eligibility requirements and that the delegate’s office is seeking community comments in support or with concerns to inform congressional consideration.
All four resolutions (24-02 through 24-05) were adopted with recorded unanimous votes.
