The Providence City Council adopted a resolution honoring Joseph Migliaccio and wishing him a “fulfilling and well-deserved retirement” after more than 20 years of city service.
The resolution, read into the record by the City Clerk, cited Migliaccio’s leadership of the Telecommunications Department, where he oversaw police and fire dispatch systems, emergency call processing, radio repairs and the city’s communications infrastructure. The resolution noted Migliaccio served as director since 2021 and praised his role in maintaining 24/7 operational reliability for first responders.
Council speakers described Migliaccio as a mentor and steady presence who guided staff through technical upgrades and complex operations. Several council members thanked him personally for his service and recognized his professionalism and long-term institutional knowledge.
Council members passed the resolution by unanimous vote and invited Migliaccio and guests to join the council for photographs and remarks.
