Mayor Scott Arndt read a proclamation declaring April 2025 Sexual Assault Awareness Month and called on residents to support local activities and programs that assist survivors. A representative of the Kodiak Women's Resource and Crisis Center accepted the proclamation and described 2024 service statistics: the center worked with 26 victims of sexual assault in Kodiak last year and emphasized outreach, shelter, legal advocacy and community education. The center invited residents to the Choose Respect March scheduled for April 16 at noon.
