Sullivan County approves resolution supporting LPGA "Legend" event; visitors group outlines spring and summer promotions

Herb, a representative of the Sullivan County Visitors Association (SCVA), asked the committee for support for an upcoming LPGA event called "Legend," saying the event is expected to be one of the county's largest this year and will include support for emergency responders.

"We've asked for your support on it because we wanna promote that because it's probably gonna be one of the biggest events that are gonna be held here in the county this year," Herb said.

Committee members agreed to take up the single resolution immediately while Herb was present. A member moved the resolution; another member seconded. He said SCVA received two USDA reimbursable grants last year for a mural project and an agricultural education project and that the bureau will move forward with reimbursements and project implementation in the coming weeks.

He described the sports-conference-center feasibility study as shifting toward a sports-focused conference concept and said staff expect the consultant report within a few weeks.

No committee members objected to taking up and approving the resolution while SCVA's representative was present; the committee did not specify sponsorship amounts or other funding in the recorded motion.

A committee member thanked Herb and SCVA for their work and outreach.
