Richardson ISD board accepts $45,300+ in donations, dozens of smaller gifts

The Richardson Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved acceptance of monetary gifts and in-kind donations during its April meeting, trustees said.
Board documents and staff presentation identified one donation of $25,000 directed to Creek Elementary and additional gifts that together raise the board-reported total for this group to about $45,300. Staff told trustees there are many other gifts under $5,000 each; when those smaller gifts are summed the board said the broader package of donations reported at the meeting totals about $47,000.
District staff described the donations as coming primarily through parent-teacher associations and community partners and said the funds will be used for campus programs and student supports consistent with donor restrictions and district policy. Trustees asked for the usual documentation and recommended that gifts over $5,000 be highlighted for board consideration; the motion to accept the gifts passed on a 7–0 vote.
Why it matters: Donations and grants supplement campus programming and are often directed at tutoring, extracurricular programs or materials that schools cannot otherwise purchase within operating budgets. Trustees said they want transparency about how larger gifts are allocated.
What the board decided: Trustees voted unanimously to accept the gifts as presented. Staff will proceed to allocate the funds in accordance with donors’ directions and district accounting rules. The board did not adopt any new spending plan at the meeting.
The meeting moved on to other agenda items after the vote.
