Flower Mound Youth Action Council reports annual activities to Parks Board

Members of the Flower Mound Youth Action Council presented the group’s 2024–25 activities at the April 3 Parks Board meeting and described outreach, volunteer and leadership activities that connect youth with parks and local civic events.
Prisha Toshini, identified as president of the Youth Action Council and a senior at Flower Mound High School, summarized the council’s focus on engagement, service and leadership. Toshini listed recurring events the council supports: Dorothy’s Dash, the senior-center tea party (Seniors in Motion), a Veterans Day ceremony, Breakfast with Santa, the daddy–daughter prom and an Easter egg scramble. She also described plans to expand participation in seniors events and to return to the Youth Advisory Commission summit when schedules permit.
Toshini said the council handled volunteer tasks such as event check-in, handing out medals and assisting children with craft activities. She said the council added about 12 new members this year — the largest class since COVID — and explained the application and interview process. "We actually have a link to the application on the Flower Mound website and it's just a form they fill out," she said. "Then me or one of the other officers goes ahead and does an interview with them and then we make sure that they're a good fit."
Parks staff and board members thanked the students for their service and encouraged continued recruitment to sustain the program.
