Planning board approves replacement off-premise wall sign for Cody Cattle Company

The City of Cody Planning and Zoning Adjustment Board approved a sign-plan on April 3, 2025, to replace an existing off-premise wall sign for Cody Cattle Company at 1202 Sheridan Avenue.
Staff said the proposed sign is a vinyl wrap that measures 8 feet wide by 9 feet tall (72 square feet) and is located within the Downtown Architectural District and Downtown Sign District. "The sign will be constructed of a vinyl wrap and measures 8 feet wide and 9 feet tall, which is 72 square feet," said Interim Community Development Director and city planner Yutona Dye.
Dye told the board the original off-premise sign was approved March 23, 2021, and staff considers the current proposal a like-for-like replacement. "Staff has no concerns with replacing the existing sign with the exact same size and material," she said. Dye noted the sign is considered off-premise because the businesses advertised do not own or occupy the property where the sign sits.
Board member Dan moved to approve the sign plan; board member Joe seconded the motion. The board voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously.
The approval allows the applicant to replace the existing wall sign with the new vinyl wrap at the same dimensions and material. No additional conditions were placed on the replacement.
