Legislative committee recommends Carl Wilson as Maine commissioner of Department of Marine Resources

The Joint Standing Committee on Marine Resources recommended confirmation of Carl Wilson of Alna to serve as commissioner of the Maine Department of Marine Resources on a voice roll call after a public confirmation hearing and extensive questioning by committee members.

The committee’s recommendation came after Tom Mabelo, Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor Janet Mills, introduced Mr. Wilson as the governor’s nominee and said, "Mister Wilson was chosen because of his deep background in marine science and research, his experience collaborating with commercial fishermen, and his knowledge of the department." Representative Lisonbee Hepler moved the committee recommendation and Representative Holly Eaton seconded the motion; the committee clerk then recorded the vote and the committee announced its recommendation in favor of confirmation.
