Cole County commissioners approved a cooperative agreement with University of Missouri Health Care to allow Cole County EMS students to complete clinical observation hours at University facilities and at Cap Region (the transcript referred to that clinical site).
Staff said the county has previously hosted shorter emergency medical responder (EMR) classes but this will be the first full EMT class delivered by the county; as of the meeting staff reported the class was full at 18 students. The agreement allows student observation and clinical hours to meet certification requirements. EMS staff said the agreement had been reviewed and signed internally and the university asked that the county sign the agreement first.
Commissioners voted to approve and sign the cooperative agreement; staff will proceed with course scheduling and clinical placement logistics under the terms of the agreement.
