Cole County commissioners awarded the Lakewood Subdivision Stormwater Improvements (project 22023-201-41) to GWH Landscaping with a low bid of $537,227.68.
Staff reported four bids were opened and GWH Landscaping submitted the low bid of $537,227.68, which exceeded the engineer’s estimate of $422,165. Commissioners and staff discussed that bids nationwide have been rising and that some recent projects have exceeded estimates by 20–25 percent. County staff said $750,000 had been budgeted for the overall project and that the county will use its ARPA stormwater funds to cover much of the work and then draw on the 807 sales tax budget if necessary for remaining costs.
Staff explained the work is a multi-stage program of underground infrastructure improvements followed by overlay work in later years. The commission approved awarding the contract to GWH Landscaping Contracting LLC and directed staff to proceed with contract and funding details.
