Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie held open auditions for performers of the national anthem ahead of its 2025 live racing season, track officials said.
Track officials described the auditions as a long‑standing tradition and an opportunity for soloists, duets, groups and instrumentalists to perform in front of a microphone and camera. Officials said 85 candidates auditioned and that the track will invite a selection of performers back to sing live during one or more of the 73 racing dates scheduled for the 2025 season.
Several audition participants described the anthem as a challenging song. One participant said, “I love singing, first of all, and I love making people happy,” and that performing for an audience would be “such a joy.” Track officials will make final selections before Lone Star Park’s 2025 season begins on Thursday, April 17.
