Residents, farmers press Orange County commissioners over recent property revaluation and potential tax effects

Dozens of residents and several farmers told the Orange County Board of Commissioners on April 1 that a recent countywide property revaluation and an unsettled tax rate threaten household and farm finances.
Speakers at the board's public-comment period described wide increases in assessed values and urged commissioners to limit net increases to taxpayers. Commissioner McKee asked staff to bring a revenue-neutral tax-rate calculation and “information on any delays, reductions, or cuts necessary to achieve that revenue neutral rate” to the board’s next meeting.
