Assembly Government Affairs Committee advances 11 bills in work session
Summary

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Assembly Committee on Government Affairs on April 1 held a work session and amended and advanced 11 bills the committee had previously heard, assigning floor statements and moving each measure to the next step in the legislative process.
The bills addressed a mix of ceremonial observances, administrative changes, program authorizations and financing. Committee policy analyst Alex Drozdoff summarized each measure for the record before members voted. "As nonpartisan legislative staff, I can neither support nor oppose any measure before the committee," Drozdoff told members before the roll call on the first bill.
Most measures were approved after motions to amend and do pass. Several drew recorded opposition votes ranging from one dissenter to five nays; where recorded, those votes were made part of the committee record. The committee also assigned floor statements — short explanations delivered when the bill reaches the full Assembly floor — to members identified in committee actions.

What the committee did and why it matters

AB 224 would authorize $100 million in general obligation bonds to assist small-population counties with school capital projects.
