Superintendent reports CLT results and honors 27-year finance director Greg Harrelson at Hardee County school board meeting

Superintendent Shannon Bennett reported to the Hardee County School Board on Feb. 27 that the district's recent CLT (Classic Learning Test) administration produced encouraging early results and provided departures and personnel updates, including a longtime retirement.
"Happy to report on Monday, I got a passing score," Bennett said when recounting her own recent professional certifications, then updated the board on student assessments. Bennett said 66% of juniors and seniors who took the CLT in the most recent testing window earned the concordant score needed for the district's purposes. She said the district will administer two more CLT tests — in April and May — and will extend CLT administration for students who need concordant scores for graduation and postsecondary placement. Bennett added that about a dozen students missed the math portion by a single point; the high school is analyzing data and creating plans to support those students before the next administration.
Bennett also acknowledged Greg Harrelson, the district's finance director, who was attending his last meeting after 27 years of service. "Mr. Harrelson has been our finance director for 27 years and has really led our district through some tough times, good times, bad times," Bennett said, thanking him for his service. Board members offered personal remarks of gratitude for Harrelson's years in the position.
Bennett reported that the district hosted the Florida School Board Association West Central meeting and that district staff attended the inaugural National Summit on Safety sponsored by the Florida Department of Education. She said the district's graduation steering committee continues to meet and that the administration will share CLT results after each test administration.
No formal board action was required on these updates; they were presented as superintendent information and personnel recognition.
