Health Commission appoints new chief of psychiatry at ZSFG

Dr. Mary Mercer, ZSFG chief of staff, presented Mitsuishi’s qualifications: she completed medical training, residency and a public psychiatry fellowship at UCSF; has served in leadership roles overseeing citywide case management and interdisciplinary teams; and is a UCSF professor. Mercer said Mitsuishi had accepted a conditional offer from UCSF leadership following a national search and would assume department leadership pending the commission’s approval.
A motion to appoint Mitsuishi was moved and seconded; there was no public comment on the item and commissioners approved the appointment by voice vote.
