Kershaw County Council unanimously adopted a resolution honoring the life and service of Sylvester “Sly” Robinson at its March 11 meeting and presented the resolution to the Robinson family and members of the sheriff’s office.
Councilman Cato moved to adopt a “resolution of respect and a memorial honoring officer Sylvester Sly Robinson.” Councilman Jones seconded the motion. The resolution, read aloud by Cato, recounted Robinson’s service in the U.S. Coast Guard and in multiple South Carolina law‑enforcement agencies and recognized his volunteer work in Camden community programs and his recent employment with MUSC Kershaw Hospital and Lifeline.
Sheriff Lee Bone spoke after the reading, describing Robinson’s smile and the role he played calming situations in the community. Council members who addressed the family echoed condolences and shared personal recollections of Robinson’s influence on the community and law enforcement colleagues.
The council took a unanimous vote of those present to adopt the resolution; county staff and the sheriff’s office presented the resolution and a flag to Robinson’s family during a short ceremony following the vote.
