Land Use Committee sends acceptance of four Treasure Island/Yerba Buena pump stations to full Board

The Land Use and Transportation Committee of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors on March 10 voted to recommend that the full Board accept four sanitary sewer pump stations constructed as part of the Treasure Island/Yerba Buena Island development.
Desmond Chan, project manager in Public Works' infrastructure task force, told the committee the item (BOS file no. 250098) would dedicate the Bruton and Cravath pump stations on Treasure Island and the McCullough and Northgate pump stations on Yerba Buena Island to public use, accept them for city maintenance and liability, and approve a grant deed for the McCullough facility. "The pump stations are all operational but had final punch list work to be completed," Chan said, adding that SFPUC will own and maintain the stations after acceptance.
The committee heard that the pump stations have been operating under a pre-acceptance license agreement between the subdivider (Treasure Island Development Authority) and the city; formal acceptance will allow the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission to assume ownership and maintenance. Matt Dorsey, supervisor for District 6, framed the infrastructure acceptance as a milestone for the broader Treasure Island project, saying the development is expected to produce "close to 8,000 units," which he said represents a substantial share of the city's housing targets.
Public comment was called and the clerk reported there were no speakers. Chair Myrna Melgar moved that the committee send the ordinance to the full Board with a positive recommendation. The motion passed on a 3-0 vote (Vice Chair Chen: yes; Member Mokwa: yes; Chair Melgar: yes).
Background and context: Public Works said the Stage 1 street and underground infrastructure for Treasure Island was previously accepted under BOS file no. 231245 on Feb. 6, 2024; the pump stations were the remaining Stage 1 item pending final work and formal acceptance. TIDA and SFPUC recommended acceptance to allow the pre-acceptance operating license to end and the city to assume operations.
With the committee recommendation, the matter will proceed to the full Board of Supervisors for final action.
