Commissioners approve pass-through funding for Council on Aging, accept veterinary contract for strays and appoint Michael White to appeals board

White County commissioners approved three items related to county services and appointments.

First, commissioners accepted a pass-through agreement to continue routing INDOT transit funding through the county to the White County Council on Aging instead of allowing the transit provider to receive the funds directly. Planning/administrative staff said they will submit a letter to INDOT indicating the county’s desire to remain the pass-through entity.

Second, the board approved a contract with a veterinary clinic to provide care for stray animals. Staff said the vendor adjusted proposed pricing to reduce a prior cost estimate and will provide services to county animal control under the agreed contract.

Third, the commissioners appointed Michael White to the county property-tax appeals board (central board of appeals). Commissioners said White has roughly 30 years of experience and currently serves on other local boards; the appointment fills a vacancy created by a recent resignation.

Actions and outcomes: Each item was put to a motion and approved by voice vote during the meeting.
