Crews report progress on capacity projects; technicians flag a transformer oil-sample concern

Brian, the line crew lead, told the board the crews were working on Phase 6 of a multi-phase capacity project (reconductoring 1300 South from 920 to 1100 West) and had been terminating services in several subdivisions, including near the business park by Walmart. "They're working on phase 6, which is reconductoring the line on 1300 South from 920 to 1100 West," Brian said.
Jared, power operations staff, reported annual generator inspections, battery maintenance and several repairs. He said laboratory oil-sample testing from a transformer installed at the 3 Falls site showed an increase in ethylene/ethane and hydrogen—gases that can indicate heating or loose connections. Jared told the board the reading was small but rising and that the transformer had been delivered directly from the vendor; he added company representatives were responsive and were sending replacement or corrective parts. Jared noted the equipment's unit-cost range in current market conditions "between about $900,000 and just over $1 million," and staff said the manufacturer was engaged and the issue was being investigated under warranty.
