Scott, the Hurricane City power director, told the Power Board: "I have resigned as the power director at Hurricane, so I have accepted a position in Washington. So I'll be leaving. My last day will be the fourteenth of this month." He said he was "really sad to leave" but hopeful about the new position. Board members and staff thanked Scott for his service and recounted his years with the city.
Separately, staff introduced a newly hired lineman. "This is Blake Brewster," a staff member said, noting Brewster is a journeyman who previously worked for a municipal utility in Minnesota and had been on the job in Hurricane for a few days. Staff welcomed Brewster and asked him brief questions about his background.
Nut graf: The meeting combined routine personnel announcements with the director’s resignation notice; staff said the city will continue business as usual while the director’s replacement process proceeds and requested power-staff presence at future meetings where staffing transitions will be discussed.
Ending: Board members offered personal thanks to Scott, and staff said they would include power department representation in forthcoming transition conversations with the council.
