Meadow commissioners debate absenteeism rules as members miss meetings

Did they actually have to call in and say, I'm not gonna be in?” The chair said reminders are sent by text before meetings and reported that a member, Sarah, told the chair she would not be able to attend for “a year and a half.” Another commissioner noted that Scott “hasn't been there since September 23.”
Members discussed that if commissioners are not participating or prepared, the commission lacks capacity to perform its duties. One participant said volunteers are difficult to find in a small town and that past mayors sometimes appointed residents without fully explaining the duties. The chair said enforcement of attendance rules ordinarily falls to the chair to raise with absent members.
No formal motion to remove or excuse members was made during the meeting. Commissioners said they would continue to try to recruit reliable volunteers and to enforce attendance expectations going forward.
