Mona meets with Nephi representatives about possible shared gas services; proposal expected before next council meeting
Summary
Mona City staff met with representatives from Nephi's gas department to discuss a potential service agreement. Nephi will draft a proposal; if agreeable, Mona could contract for staff support and access to Nephi's on-call services while preserving Nephi's priority on calls.

Mona City officials reported a productive conversation with Nephi gas department representatives and said Nephi will draft a proposal for a potential cooperative arrangement that could appear at the next council meeting for approval.
An unidentified presiding official summarized the meeting and said Nephi's staff and gas personnel were present: “They were very open to it.” Participants said Seth would work with Nephi and Zach to prepare a written proposal and hoped to have it by the weekend. If the town decides the arrangement is acceptable, council consideration and a vote could occur at the next council meeting.
Discussion covered likely elements of a cooperation agreement: Nephi would provide a dedicated staff member for some duties (with the city potentially paying a share of that person's salary), Nephi staff would handle reports and be on call for emergencies (with Nephi's own customers taking priority), and Mona would retain responsibility for certain tasks such as blue staking and possibly meter and module work. One participant said some certifications might lapse if Nephi took on work and that hands-on tasks could be allocated accordingly.
No binding contract was authorized at the work session. Participants said the proposed arrangement could be mutually beneficial and described the talks as “win-win.” Staff indicated they expect a formal proposal from Seth and Nephi before the next council meeting and will bring it forward for council consideration.
