Commission plans attorney training and seeks regional help to update 10-year general plan

Lewiston planning staff told the Planning and Zoning Commission they are arranging a training session with city attorney Seth Tate and have contacted the Bear River Association of Governments (BRAG) to help update the city’s general plan, which the staff said is about 10 years old and overdue for review.
The commission discussed scheduling a non-meeting educational session with Seth Tate and asked commissioners to submit questions in advance so the attorney can tailor the presentation. “Hopefully the April meeting, Seth, will be able to come out,” a commission member said.
Staff also reported outreach to the Bear River Association of Governments to assist with a general-plan update. The commission noted BRAG would bring a team to discuss the plan, and staff said the consultant Bragg has provided similar services without charge for basic assistance in the past. “Bragg, we don't pay Bragg for these types of services,” a staff member said, and the commission clarified that paid work would depend on additional needs such as mapping.
The commission did not take formal action but said it expects BRAG to check schedules and return with proposed dates and scope for the general-plan update.
