Ferron City Council confirmed plans to deploy roll-off dumpsters around the city for the month of April and discussed park maintenance tasks including aeration and playground wood-chip containment.
Staff presented a list of four initial dumpster locations for April 1 placement: 100 South/200 West; 450 East/100 South; Ferron Cemetery (150 North/100 East); and back at Myers Park. The council discussed moving dumpsters every two weeks to different parts of town when units are emptied and agreed to adjust locations if needed. Staff said more dumpsters could be provided if the council chose to pay for additional units.
Council members also discussed park maintenance: aeration at the fairgrounds and cemetery, options for retaining wood chips around a playground, and seeking two or three bids for aeration work. A volunteer discussed past mowing and cleanup efforts around parks and offered ideas for stabilizing wood chips around play equipment.
In the mayor and council reports, a council member reported that a contractor from Ogden completed a crack-seal job near Mill Road (a contract reported at about $61,000) and that a larger chip-seal project for the south half of town, paid through funds contributed to a special service district, was expected to cost more (an estimate referenced as about $600,000). Council members clarified that local BNC Road funds contributed to the special service district are used for chip-seal projects.
Next steps: city staff will finalize dumpster placement logistics, obtain two to three bids for aeration work, and coordinate chip-seal scheduling with the special service district and contractor.
