Bryce Canyon City staff presented an agreement titled a "relinquishment of the premises" conveying title and possession of the ticket booth structure and property to Ruby’s (the private property owner at the site). The document states the city and a local association previously contributed funds for the structure and that, as of the effective date once signed, the owner would receive title, use and interest in the building and property.
Staff told the council the agreement includes a clause deeming any personal property remaining in or on the premises as abandoned upon the effective date and allowing the owner to dispose of it. Council members clarified that the only city-owned personal property on site is the camera system, which staff said the city would retain.
The council discussed that the camera system is tied to an Internet bridge installed by a private contractor (identified in the meeting as Brian). Staff said the cameras were purchased by the city and will remain city property, while the Internet bridge hardware belongs to the contractor who installed it.
Staff said they will coordinate with the contractor (Brian) and vendor (Shane) to determine which pieces of equipment should remain and to document those decisions before executing the relinquishment. No formal vote to execute the relinquishment was recorded in the meeting; staff said they will clarify details with the contractor and return with any recommended edits.
