Commissioner Manning told the March 5 Beaver County commissioners work session that town-hall meetings are scheduled to discuss shared administrative costs between the New Brighton and Rochester school districts.
Manning said one meeting is scheduled for April 7 in New Brighton and another for April 24 in Rochester, both at Simpson’s Club, and described shared administration — including a shared superintendent — as an option he supports. "A long time coming, which I highly support," he said.
Manning also cautioned that mergers can shift debt burdens and that Rochester has accumulated significant debt that complicates full mergers. He discussed alternatives, such as sharing a superintendent or sending 9th–12th graders to another district, and said some communities resist losing local mascots and extracurricular programs.
No county action on school consolidation was recorded. Manning said the town-hall meetings should be publicized for local residents and that the meetings will be an opportunity to explore shared services and administrative options between the districts.
