Plan commission backs two discontinuances: public walk and portion of Meggins Way to be vacated

The Plan Commission on Oct. 22 recommended approval of two resolutions to discontinue public rights-of-way.
Resolution 11-2025 would vacate a platted public walk that staff said was never constructed and is already maintained by the four adjoining property owners. Staff said the public walk does not provide connectivity and that discontinuance would provide the adjacent owners additional land and privacy.
Resolution 10-2025 would discontinue a roughly 1,100-square-foot sliver of Meggins Way. Staff said the road was built slightly north of its original platting, and the discontinuance would clean up an extra strip of right-of-way that is not functioning as a road.
Staff described the discontinuance processes as driven by Wisconsin statutes requiring notice and a formal procedure; both resolutions will go to the village board for final action. The commission approved motions recommending both discontinuances by voice vote.
