Parent asks Calimesa for enforcement, signage at Montes Montessori exit after repeated speeding; staff says speed-trailer data will be shared

Parent Eduardo Mejia, whose child attends Montes Montessori in Calimesa, told the council he and other families regularly face dangerous conditions when exiting the school driveway on Singleton because drivers exceed posted limits and visibility is poor.
"People drive by ... like 50, 60, 70 miles an hour," Mejia said, and he said a school zone sign was removed and a speed-trailer that appeared to default to 40 mph was later taken down. Mejia also reported seeing a person camping in a hammock near the exit and said parents were concerned.
Mayor Molina and staff said the city already deploys a speed-trailer that records passing speeds and that staff can share that data with the sheriff's office to prompt targeted enforcement. Captain Arthur likewise noted that the sheriff will combine public education and enforcement, and council members encouraged staff to continue coordination with the school and sheriff.
Mejia asked whether the speed-trailer data would be posted; staff said it would be included in the monthly materials and could be shared with the sheriff for enforcement planning.
