Calimesa Fire battalion chief reports rise in calls; average response under seven minutes

Battalion Chief Raposa presented the Calimesa Fire Department—s response data and said the department has seen a notable increase in call volume over the last year.
"Our year-to-date total calls" Raposa said, and he reported an increase in call volume of 26% compared with the previous year. He said medical aid calls totaled 1,363 and miscellaneous public-assist calls numbered 50; the department recorded 43 fire responses. Raposa reported 526 automatic mutual-aid responses outside the city, of which 93 were canceled, and said mutual aid received into the city totaled 53 calls. He said the average response time is just under seven minutes.
Council members acknowledged the report and had no further questions. Raposa—s figures will be included in the department—s monthly report, which staff said is posted on the city website.
