House Rules committee votes to re-refer multiple bills after routing error

The House Rules and Executive Nominations Committee voted March 24 to re-refer a group of Senate bills to the appropriate committees after the chair said the measures were mistakenly routed to Rules because they matched late-filed bills that had cross files in the House.

"There are, the Senate bills that are on this list were mistakenly sent to rules because they matched bills that were in rules that had been late filed. They were cross files to house bills. And so it was a mistake, and we're just correcting it," the chair said before the vote.

The vice chair made a motion to refer the listed bills to their appropriate committees. The motion read, as presented to the committee: "HB 15 20, Baltimore County and Baltimore City, vehicle laws lighting on privately owned property. HB 15 39, transportation identification cards, issuance to minors. SB 5 29, business occupation professional professional engineers examinations. SB 6 5 6, Baltimore County of of education, altering of elected elected member district and establishment of redistricting process. S b a 87, county boards of education reappointment of incoming county superintendent authorization, s b 1 0 1 3. Baltimore County alcohol alcoholic beverages license extension, s b 8 20, municipalities enforcement of ordinance and resolutions. S b 10 30, Baltimore County and Baltimore City vehicle laws lighting on privately owned property." The vice chair asked the committee to "Move these bills to appropriate committee, madam chair."

The committee approved the motion by voice vote. The chair announced, "All those in favor, say aye." Committee members responded, "Aye." The chair concluded, "The ayes have it. Those bills will be re referred to the appropriate committees." The meeting then adjourned.
