Bay County School Board approves Denise Moss as principal of Breakfast Point Academy

The Bay County School Board on March 24 approved the superintendent’s recommendation to appoint Denise Moss as principal of Breakfast Point Academy.

Josh Balcom, standing in for Superintendent McQueen, presented the recommendation and noted he would abstain from the vote because he is married to Denise Moss. Board members moved and seconded the recommendation; the roll call recorded the present trustees as voting to approve.

During the public portion of the approval meeting, Denise Moss, who currently serves in school leadership in the district, addressed the board. "Leading a school is both a privilege and a responsibility that I do not take lightly," Moss said. She spoke about her plans to continue the school’s traditions and to work with teachers, staff and families to support students’ academic growth.

Board members praised Moss’s record. Trustees said her work at West Bay Elementary and other district roles demonstrated leadership and an ability to grow administrators. Several board members noted they were sad to lose her leadership at West Bay but pleased for Breakfast Point.
